THE TRANSCENDENT LABYRINTH OF TAROT

The Transcendent Labyrinth of Tarot is a four-part class consisting of four workshops on tarot as a divinatory practice that encourages processes of infinite opening and learning and as a tool for connecting with our guides, subconscious, and higher selves. Throughout the series, we’ll touch on all the infinite ways tarot can be used to deepen our relationships with ourselves, others, our paths (personal and collective), and collective liberation. Tarot does not exist in a wormhole; it is a political practice that strengthens communities on the margins. Together, we will use tarot to deeply investigate how oppressive systems play out in our lives, while simultaneously divining new dreams for a revolutionary future. As the tarot and our journeys are labyrinthine, so are these classes, walking us deeper, together, into the unlimited spiraled paths of insight and growth that we and the divine illuminate before us. All levels of experience and interest welcome!

Sunday, Nov. 3, On Beginning:
We'll explore the intersecting origins of the tarot practice, including how it’s been used across times, cultures, and communities. In this, we will be de-emphasizing the canonical cast of white cis male characters that pre-dominate tarot history and instead illuminate the women, queers, and trans people at the heart of this timeless work. We’ll delve into the major and minor arcana systems, focusing on the stories that they weave, their symbology, and how they represent divine truths and fundamental spiritual cycles we all encounter in our lived and ascended experiences. We’ll also discuss and share techniques on how to get acquainted with our decks, how to set intentions for our own readings, and how to challenge common misconceptions about tarot as well as embedded fears, insecurities, and doubts that may come up in approaching the work. 
Sunday, Nov. 10, Stars & Planets: 
We will delve into the influence and connection astrology has on tarot, both in symbology and in interpretation for readings. We’ll explore the associations the cards have with particular planets, zodiac signs, and planetary placements (ex. Venus in Libra) so we can better understand the messages that the stars, planets, and cards want to communicate. The study of astrology’s relationship to tarot takes us deeper into the spiral of meaning that the cards offer us, clarifying our relationships to our own astrological charts and channeling the energies of the stars and planets. We will consider the ways astrology is symbolically depicted in the cards, how we can build our own relationships with the zodiac in connection with the tarot, and do some hands-on practice working with the energies of the zodiac through the cards.
Sunday, Nov. 17, The Trans & Queer Art of Tarot:
Trans as in existing across, beyond, through. Trans as in transgression, transubstantiation, transcendence. Queer as in bizarre, abject; queer as a reclamation of language and challenge to violences that harm us, making something infinitely beautiful and meaningful out of the building blocks of patriarchal and colonial constriction. Queer and trans as in the constant creations and destructions of what selves can be in relation to each other and our world(s). And when. And how. And why. We will explore how working with tarot is a queer and trans practice and a tool for our liberation. The archetypes, figures, beings, journeys, symbols, numbers are ever-changing in their meanings, identities, and representations. The messages tarot has for us evolve alongside our dreams, pains, questions, with our lives and experiences. We will work with our trans and queer ancestors, our divine selves full and null of gender and sexuality, and the cards themselves to guide us through multiverses to break open “realities” of the body, time, space to discover infinite possibilities and truths.  We’ll converse, transverse, meditate, and write together in a space of learning and healing.
Sunday, Nov. 24, Tarot for Creative Practice:
This workshop provides insight on how tarot can be a support for creativity and artistry. Tarot can help us become inspired, guide us toward new directions, and deepen our imaginations. The cards can be there for us regardless of medium to help us tap into our unlimited creative potential and breathe new life into the work we do. It can be especially helpful when we're feeling stuck or blocked. We'll explore simple, accessible ways to work with the tarot as part of our artistic process. We'll practice with the cards and archetypes hands-on, and learn how to weave tarot into our creative rituals.
