nervous system support for radical creative capacity
we all hold so much personal, generational, and collective experience in our systems as we navigate complex social, political, cultural, and economic intensities daily. this affects our abilities to create, work, connect—differentially depending on our identities and relationships to power. in this workshop, we will learn ways to regulate our nervous systems energetically and spiritually with attention to who we are in the world and who we are to each other. we’ll illuminate how common conscious and unconscious blocks show up in our bodies and spirits and experiment with accessible practices to shift into spaces of flow, creativity, and connection. we’ll hold space for our voices and experiences supported by the techniques we explore together.
tarot for the revolution
in this workshop, we will explore how tarot can be used as a revolutionary tool toward collective liberation. with tarot, we build upon and learn from the past in relation to the present moment in order to create the future — this is also the foundation of revolutionary work. given that revolution requires everyone and all resources, we’ll work with tarot to help us clarify our roles, our strengths, and our points of growth in order to serve the whole and benefit our movements. we’ll learn how to channel ancestors, revolutionaries, the spirit of movements, events, and protests for support and guidance in our healing practices and organizing work. we’ll leave the workshop with a stronger sense of how our personal paths intersect with collective healing and how we can deepen our impact through intuitive work with the cards and archetypes. this workshop is for people of any interest, knowledge, or skill level in relation to tarot.
tarot for creative practice
this workshop provides insight on how tarot can be a support for creativity and artistry. tarot can help us become inspired, guide us toward new directions, and deepen our imaginations. we'll explore simple, accessible ways to work with the tarot as part of our artistic process. we'll get to know the cards and archetypes, practice with them hands-on, and learn how to weave tarot into our creative rituals. no previous experience with tarot necessary.
the TRANScendent labyrinth of tarot is an ongoing series of workshops on tarot as a divinatory practice that encourages processes of infinite opening and learning and as a tool for connecting with our guides, subconscious, and higher selves. throughout the series, we’ll touch on all the infinite ways tarot can be used to deepen our relationships with ourselves, others, our paths (personal and collective), and collective liberation. tarot does not exist in a wormhole; it is a political practice that strengthens communities on the margins. together, we will use tarot to deeply investigate how white supremacy, capitalism, and patriarchy play out in our lives, while simultaneously divining new dreams for a revolutionary future. as the tarot and our journeys are labyrinthine, so will this series be, walking us deeper, together, into the unlimited spiraled paths of insight and growth that we and the divine illuminate before us.
the trans & queer art of tarot
trans as in existing across, beyond, through. trans as in transgression, transubstantiation, transcendence. queer as in bizarre, abject; queer as a reclamation of the language and powers that harm us, making something infinitely beautiful and meaningful beyond of the building blocks of patriarchal and colonial constriction. queer and trans as in the constant creations and destructions of what selves can be and who we can be in relation to each other and the world(s). and when. and how. and why. being is all of this and more. tarot is all of this and more. working with tarot is a queer and trans practice. it is a tool for our liberation. the archetypes, figures, beings, journeys, symbols, numbers, lessons are ever-shifting, ever-changing in their meanings, identities, and representations. the messages tarot has for us evolve alongside our dreams, pains, questions, with our lives and experiences. we will explore all this and more in this workshop, allowing our trans and queer ancestors, our divine selves full and null of gender and sexuality, and the cards themselves to guide us through multiverses. we’ll converse, transverse, meditate, channel, rhyme, write, and divine together.
herbs & crystals for dreamwork
we all have active dream lives even if we don’t always or ever remember our dreams. we are constantly working out conscious, unconscious, and subconscious issues in our dreams, lessons which we integrate into our waking lives and psyches. the dream world is a very potent landscape, indeed! in this workshop, we will learn about and explore various herbs and crystals that are useful to dreamwork and how to work with them. with a focus on accessibility, we will explore herbs and crystals that are generally easy to find and straightforward to use. we'll discuss how to pair herbs and crystals together for protection before and during dreaming, dream recall, lucid dreaming, and other dream techniques. we'll go in depth on a handful of herbs and crystals and i'll also provide a larger list for participants to take home with more in-depth info. there will be time for participants to share and discuss their experiences with dreaming and ask questions.
mapping as memorial: honoring grief, celebrating lineage
in the workshop, we will use poetry & art/radical mapping to explore how we bridge connections between each other, mourn & memorialize in a world that refuses to acknowledge many of us, our power, and instead works to actively displace us. with attention to sites of grief, protest, art, and love, we will engage in discussion, writing, and a collective mapping project that tracks physical and emotional sites that traditional maps leave out. the exercise reimagines mapping as a revolutionary tool for remembrance and celebration of our lost spaces, our movements, our kin, and our heroes. how do we mourn and memorialize in a world that doesn’t acknowledge us, a world that rapidly pushes us out of our homes and communities? how do we connect through our grief, our pride, our love? it allows us to be the makers and educators of our own histories. it situates participants as both expert and student, creating a space where we both share our own and take in each others’ truths, knowledge(s), lineages, and relationships to place. the entirety of the workshop is based on mapping as an interactive and radical practice, one that communities can use to archive political & artistic movements, personal and collective history, etc. diy cartography is a means for archiving history, bringing communities together, and speaking our truths. it is a tangible way to honor and bring our lives into form through visual, textual, and emotional means. the ethic and intention of this project is to memorialize and archive local artistic and political communities in real time, as we experience them happening, as a route to healthy collaboration outside of institutions, the academy, and within rapidly gentrifying cities.
