Bloom Wave is a performance and arts collective founded by rex and Tres Freeborn and dedicated to curating events that stoke the energy and spirit of oppressed people. The goal is to bring people of marginalized classes, identities, and abilities together to perform, empower, and build solidarity through our collective bonds, ideas, and experiences. The collective is a growing network of artists, performers, organizers, thinkers, and writers who produce performances, showcases, screenings, workshops, potlucks, and other community events. Through our shared efforts, Bloom Wave builds revolutionary culture, directly connects cultural work with organizing for community power, and provides needed mental/spiritual sustenance in the struggle for collective liberation!
bloom wave: cabaret
Bloom Wave: Cabaret is a radical variety show that highlights and uplifts the voices and work of performers and artists who are coming out and into their work. Bloom Wave is an inclusive showcase disrupting paradigms and focusing on the work of people of color, women, femmes, queer & trans folk, disabled folk, and anyone existing on the margins working in storytelling, poetry, comedy, music, drag, burlesque, and more. Bloom Wave creates a space that is often hard to find, filled with weirdos, "others," revolutionaries, freaks, rabble rousers and misfits. Expect raunchiness, sincerity, joy, cackles, and thoughtful challenge. The title comes from the idea of coming together to create transformative waves that radiate out and promote personal and collective growth/blossoming through performance, art, and shared experiences. The goal is to bring black, brown and LGBT folks into the same space to perform, empower, and build on our revolutionary bonds, ideas, and energy.
